Cuando se corta la señal fallan dos cosas: que el aviso llegue, y que lo ocurrido quede registrado. El 26 de julio de 2026 demostramos en terreno un primer prototipo en Pacchanta, Ocongate (4 300 m) y recogimos los primeros datos de campo, con la comunidad y cinco estudiantes de la UNSAAC.When the signal drops, two things fail: the alert arriving, and the event being recorded. On 26 July 2026 we demonstrated a first prototype at Pacchanta, Ocongate (4,300 m) and collected the first field data, with the community and five UNSAAC students.

The problem
En los corredores de altura y los territorios rurales del Cusco la conectividad es limitada o inexistente. Cuando ocurre una emergencia, la información se pierde, la coordinación se fragmenta y el registro de lo ocurrido queda incompleto. El programa estudia ese problema —comunicación, coordinación y registro sin conectividad— junto a las comunidades altoandinas del corredor del Ausangate.In the high-altitude corridors and rural territories of Cusco, connectivity is limited or nonexistent. When an emergency occurs, information is lost, coordination fragments, and the record of what happened remains incomplete. The programme studies that problem —communication, coordination and record-keeping without connectivity— together with the high-Andes communities of the Ausangate corridor.

Ayuda a avisar. Un aviso enviado no es un aviso recibido, y un aviso recibido no es un rescate. El sistema no debe hacer creer lo contrario.It helps to raise the alarm. A sent alert is not a received alert, and a received alert is not a rescue. The system must not suggest otherwise.

Cinco estudiantes de la UNSAAC subieron a unos 4 300 m y demostraron en terreno, junto con la comunidad, el prototipo inicial de un sistema de comunicación de emergencia diseñado para funcionar sin internet ni señal telefónica. Se recogieron los primeros datos de campo del programa.Five UNSAAC students climbed to around 4,300 m and, together with the community, demonstrated the first prototype of an emergency communication system designed to run with no internet and no mobile signal. The programme's first field data were collected.
La comunidad ha pedido que el sistema sea suyo y esté bajo su control. El programa acompaña; no administra el sistema desplegado ni la información que produce.The community has asked that the system be theirs and under their control. The programme accompanies; it does not administer the deployed system or the information it produces.
Tres hechos físicos siguen sin medirse: si la campana se oye desde una casa a las 03:00, si un teléfono mantiene la asociación de red durante la noche, y el tiempo de caminata entre postes. La validación recién comienza.Three physical facts remain unmeasured: whether the bell is audible from a house at 03:00, whether a phone holds its network association overnight, and the walking time between posts. Validation is only beginning.
