A public record of the fieldwork carried out at Pacchanta on 26 July 2026 by five UNSAAC students together with the community. Each page documents work and can be checked.

El programaThe programme

El Hilo que Persiste estudia cómo pedir ayuda, coordinar una respuesta y dejar registro de una emergencia donde no hay internet ni señal telefónica. El trabajo se realiza en el corredor del Ausangate, con la comunidad de Pacchanta y con el Laboratorio de Algoritmos y Análisis de Datos de la UNSAAC.

El Hilo que Persiste studies how help is called for, how a response is coordinated, and how an emergency is recorded where there is no internet and no mobile signal. The work is carried out in the Ausangate corridor, with the community of Pacchanta and the Laboratory of Algorithms and Data Analysis at UNSAAC.

La jornada de campoThe day in the field

El 26 de julio de 2026 un equipo interdisciplinario subió a 4 300 metros para evaluar en terreno un prototipo diseñado para funcionar sin conectividad y para ser operado por la propia comunidad. Cinco estudiantes —de Antropología, Ingeniería de Sistemas e Ingeniería Electrónica— midieron, observaron y escucharon durante la jornada. El trabajo de campo no ilustra la investigación: es la investigación.

On 26 July 2026 an interdisciplinary team climbed to 4,300 metres to assess, on the ground, a prototype designed to run without connectivity and to be operated by the community itself. Five students — from Anthropology, Systems Engineering and Electronic Engineering — measured, observed and listened through the day. Fieldwork does not illustrate the research: it is the research.

Qué documentan estas páginasWhat these pages record

Cada página registra trabajo, no asistencia. Dice qué se hizo, con fecha, lugar y altitud, y cualquiera puede comprobarlo. No atribuye hallazgos a personas concretas: el formulario de campo no permite saber quién midió qué, y repartir méritos con un instrumento insuficiente sería inventar. Los hallazgos aparecen como lo que fueron —trabajo del equipo— y cada página lleva la mirada de su disciplina.

Each page records work, not attendance. It states what was done, with date, place and altitude, and anyone can check it. It does not attribute findings to individuals: the field form cannot establish who measured what, and assigning credit on an insufficient instrument would be invention. Findings appear as what they were — the team's work — and each page carries its discipline's lens.

Casi todo lo que aparece aquí es lo que no funcionó. El portal al que tres adultos no lograron entrar. Los casos que llegaron sin mensaje. La ubicación que se había dejado fuera del diseño por principio y que los registros de campo obligaron a devolver, como declaración voluntaria de quien pide ayuda. Documentar un fallo con exactitud es más difícil, y vale más, que celebrar un éxito.

Almost everything here is what did not work. The portal three adults could not get into. The cases that arrived with no message. The location that had been designed out of the system on principle, and that the field records forced back in, as a voluntary declaration by the person asking for help. Documenting a failure exactly is harder, and worth more, than celebrating a success.

El sistema auditado es un prototipo demostrado en campo, no validado en operación. El equipo quedó bajo control de la comunidad, a pedido suyo. Estas páginas todavía no son públicas ni aparecen en buscadores; quien esté nombrado aquí puede pedir que se corrija un dato o que su página deje de existir, y se hace sin preguntar por qué.

The audited system is a prototype demonstrated in the field, not validated in operation. The equipment remains under community control, at their request. These pages are not yet public and do not appear in search engines; anyone named here can ask for a detail to be corrected or for their page to be removed, and it is done with no questions asked.

Documenting what fails is the work. Anyone can attend a success; few publish a failure honestly. Each of these changed the design of the system.
